Influ

Terms

The terms Influ is offered under, including what its figures are and are not: estimates built from partial data, never a census.

Draft — not reviewed by a lawyer. It describes what the software actually does today. Have it reviewed before Influ is offered to anyone outside your own team.

What Influ is

Influ measures how a political or civic narrative is landing in public discourse. It queries public data sources, counts and classifies what it finds, and presents scores and charts.

What the numbers mean

Every figure Influ shows is an estimate built from partial data, not a measurement of public opinion. Sources cover different populations, respond to different search terms, and go down without warning. A source that returns nothing is usually a coverage gap, not evidence of absence.

Two sources — DC airspace and the Pentagon pizza index — are ambient curiosities. They are not connected to your search terms, they feed no score, and they are off by default. Nothing in Influ should be presented as evidence of a real-world event.

Scores are comparable only across checks that used the same set of sources. Each check records which sources it ran on for exactly this reason.

Acceptable use

Do not use Influ to target, profile, or build dossiers on private individuals. Public figures acting in public roles are the intended subject. Respect the terms of every upstream source; where a source needs your own API key, its terms bind you directly.

Availability and warranty

Influ depends on third-party APIs that change, rate-limit, and disappear. It is provided as is, with no warranty and no guarantee of availability, accuracy, or fitness for any purpose.

Plans

Plan tiers are displayed in the app, but no billing is implemented and no payment is taken. Nothing on the Plans page is a contract to supply a paid service.
